How do I know it’s the 'right' time to put my pet to sleep?

Pets rely on their owners for everything. And in some cases, this means they rely on you to know when it is the right time to let them go.

Whilst I have many years of experience helping owners make this difficult decision, I have been in the same situation myself, from losing the dog that I grew up with to the horse I kept for 22 years, and  completely understand how hard it can be to make this decision.

If you are struggling to know if the time is right, I offer a free phone consultation where we can discuss your pet's current quality of life, requiring no need for a stressful vet visit and no pressure. This tends to give owners the reassurance needed when wanting to do the right thing by their beloved pet, a better understanding of the process and sometimes just talking to someone can make it that bit easier.

"Acknowledge the love behind the decision, the bravery in letting go to end suffering, and the strength found in honoring your pet's memory."

Quality Of Life Scale

This chart helps some clients to better visualise the general well-being of their pet. When using the chart, I advise that even one item on the left column could indicate a poor quality of life, even if others are still positive.

It is also important to understand that some symptoms may be expected side effects of the treatments that your pet is undergoing, so I am happy to discuss this with you before making a decision.
